This road is one of the busiest roads in Iran. There is a tunnel in this road that called Kandovan. Kandovan tunnel was built in four years from 1935 until 1939.
Shahrak-e Namak Abrud is a touristic village and has an aerial tramway which starts at the sea level near the shores of the Caspian Sea and ends on the top of the Alborz heights crossing dense forest area of northern Iran.
Local people believe that the tunnel is located in the mountains that reaches the village down the mountain, and in the past soldiers used it as an necessary way out.
